Fellow Narragansett Lions Club Members:
I first just want to thank all Lions that were able to attend our last
dinner meeting @ Arturo Joe’s this past month. We continue to have busy
“spring” season of meetings/gatherings and I hope all of us can
participate. ONLY 86 DAYS UNTIL OUR BLESSING OF THE FLEET EVENT!
Last Chance: “Casino Courtyard” project next to the towers in the pier is
wrapping up and getting some very good press for the Club and Town.
(Thanks Kirk Pickell!). Anyone interested in reserving and purchasing a
brick paver in someone’s family name, memory or as a great
acknowledgement, please refer to the Towers website @

they last!). FINAL COUNTDOWN!

Board Meeting @ 7:00pm @ the Narragansett Community Center. (DRC get the
Key.)
Friday, May 9-11, 2008 – RI Lions State Convention, District 42 – Mainstay
Inn in Newport, RI. Call 849-9880.
Saturday, May 10, 2008 – Newport Lions Club Annual Soap Box Derby –
Newport, RI. Adult division “$challenge$” Narragansett Lions vs. Newport
Lions starts 10:30am to 1:00pm. Party afterwards!
Monday, May 12, 2008 – Lions members and facility members committee meet @
the Lions Garage to clean up the garage from 5:00pm to 7:30pm. Rick Lema
and staff will be all on hand.
Wednesday, May 14, 2008 - Monthly Dinner Meeting @ George’s Restaurant.
Cocktails @ 6:30pm and Dinner Meeting @ 7:00pm.
Thursday, May 15, 2008 – Coast Guard House “Free Cocktail Party” to
benefit the Casino Courtyard Project. Time 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Rsvp.

Saturday, May 17, 2008 – Spring Steak Fry – Beneficiary is the YMCA of
South County and the band Soul Street will be playing. The cost of the
event is $25.00 and the event starts @ 6:00pm to 12:00pm. Mark your
calendars!
Saturday, May 24, 2008 – “Race for Grace” fundraiser in Narragansett
10:00am, more details to follow. The club will again be donating hot dogs
and cooking as well as providing help through volunteers. The event is
again at St. Veronica’s Chapel in Narragansett – Grace has Rett Syndrome.
Wednesday, May 28, 2008 – New Member meeting @ Simon’s @ 8:00pm.
Wednesday, May 28, 2008 – RI Blood Bank – Blood Drive @ Narragansett
Elementary School 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
Saturday, June 07, 2008 – Block Island initiation of new officers on the
Island > dinner outing. Club members attending are encouraged to contact
the Narragansett Inn for the one night stay!
Sunday, June 08, 2008 – District 42 Lions are going to the Pawsox game in
Pawtucket 1:05pm. Tickets are $6 and are available through our District
Governor Dan Cunningham. $3 of every ticket sold will go toward the
Campaign Sightfirst II “Vision for all.”
Wednesday, June 11, 2008 – Initiation of new officers @ Spain 6:30pm
cocktails and 7:00pm dinner.
Saturday, June 14, 2008 – Incoming Lions Officers Seminars/Training –
Narragansett Community Center from 10:00am to 2:00pm. $15 per person (Club
pays) and the event is hosted by our club; our Club will provide the
“steak fry” lunch from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, volunteers needed.
Friday, June 27, 2008 – Annual Golf Tournament – Exeter Country Club. $135
per player plus $100 per 4-some for tee sponsorship. Tee time is around
8:30am! Total 4-some cost is $640.00. Let’s all try to commit and pay
early.
