 October News Letter

Hello,

Thanks to all who turned out in September for the dinner meeting at Trio. It was a nice night on the patio. We welcomed three new members that evening - Craig Foster, Dennis Tierney and Michael Vieira. Welcome!

Bill Scott and Pat Zilly brought us up to date on what is happening on the State level with the RI Lions Sight Foundation and the Children with Cancer fund. Both of these groups are looking for more members to get involved. Let me know if you are willing to step up and join either of these worthy causes. Both groups meet once a month.

Did you know that Richard Durfee, owner of George's of Galilee, is a charter member of the Narragansett Lions Club? Join us at our October 12th dinner meeting that's being held at George's. Make your reservation today at www.narragansettri.com/lions

Time is running short to get your sponsorships in for the Sweeney Road Race "Get to the Point". The race is October 22nd. Attached is info letting you know how you can help - sponsorships, auction donations and attending the post race event at the Bon Vue. This race is very successful and has raised over $350,000 that goes right back into our community. Get involved - have fun! The committee will meet for the final time prior to the race on Monday, October 17th 6:30 pm at the Bon Vue.

Crazy as it may seem (this being October 5th) - The Annual Poinsettia Sale is on! This is a great way to support the efforts of the club with very little effort! I have attached the order form for you to print and distribute to your friends, coworkers and neighbors. Many of us buy Poinsettia's to decorate our home and office, why not buy them from the Lions Club and support our charitable causes at the same time.

The Christmas Tree committee has been meeting and will have a sign up sheet for sales at the October Dinner meeting. Contact for the Tree Committee is Pat Zilly pzilly@live.com  or 207-1725

A Blood Drive sponsored by the Narragansett Lions Club is October 19th 5-8 pm in the cafeteria of the Elementary School 55 Mumford Rd. Please come out and help save a life.

I have also attached an updated event schedule for Oct - Dec.

If you haven't remembered to pay your dues (which were payable on July 1st !) please get the check to us ASAP. Narragansett Lions Club PO Box 186 Narragansett RI 02882 or if you are experiencing difficulty paying them, please contact club secretary Toni Owens 792-0101 or coastal10@verizon.net .

As always, our Board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7 PM at the Community Center. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend and observe the board's discussions. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Happy Fall,
Deb
